The 3D battlefield situation information system plays important role in the informatization warfare. In the informatization warfare, the Command Automation System is the nerve center of the modern command system. The command and control system is important part of The Command Automation System. The display of situation in current command and control system is based on 2D graphics and icons, and it can not satisfy all requirements of visual reappearance of battle situation. But 3D simulation system for battle field is designed for 3D display in certain situation and landscape with need of preparation. The 3D system can not satisfy the need for the display of battle situation because of lack of agility. The 3D battlefield situation information system can improve the reality and interaction of the command and control system. So, it is very important to pay more attention to the study on the establishment of 3D battlefield situation information system.This paper discusses the following questions about the 3D battlefield situation information system:1. The basic concept of the 3D battlefield situation information system is introduced and the state of research is also presented. Moreover, the significance of the study on 3D battlefield situation information system is confirmed.2. The establishment of 3D battle is the basic work of 3D battlefield situation information system. This paper studies the characteristic of the terrain visualization, the principles of 3D map symbol and the data management for huge data.3. Based on the systematic research on design, establishment and visualization of three-dimensional marking symbol in 3D battlefield situation information system, this paper proposed six visual variable for three-dimensional marking symbol , concluded the rule of three-dimensional marking symbol, designed the code of three-dimensional marking symbol, and presented many establishment methods of three-dimensional marking symbol.4. This paper studied the analysis method and algorithm of 3D terrain which included in the 3D battlefield situation information system, Moreover, condition and realize equation of Lanchester theory has been introduced in the paper. With all this studies, this paper also discusses the method of deducing maneuver and assistant decision-making which based on blackboard frame.5. Finally a prototype with 2-3D joint situation Plot of 3D battlefield situation information system has been introduced in this paper.
