Equipment demonstration simulation has become one of three major application fields of military modeling and simulation (M&S). Its conceptual model (CM) is one important part of the military conceptual model, and has become a hotspot in military M&S study. There are many kinds of description formats used in conceptual modeling of the equipment demonstration simulation, which have different effects on modeling and conceptual validation. Therefore, the transformation methods between different formats discussed in this dissertation will help improve the quality and efficiency of the equipment demonstration simulation conceptual modeling and verification and validation (V&V) of the models.Aiming at practices of equipment demonstration simulation, the transformation between different description formats of its CM is discussed. The transformation method based on XML between the typical formats is researched. Firstly, after analysing the requirement of the conceptual modeling and model V&V, the factors of the CM and the processs of conceptual modeling of equipment demonstration simulation are presented. The transformation frame based on XML and its forming steps are also given. Secondly, the description templates with natural language (NL) and XML are proposed. The transformation method from the format described with NL to that with XML and its processing flow are designed. Then, the technique of the transformation from the description with UML sequence diagram and that with Petri net to that with XML is studied. After the original mapping algorithm is improved, the transoformation method based on XML from the format described with UML sequence diagram to that with Petri net is proposed. Finally, examples are given to show the feasibility of the transformation methods above.
