Research On Network Security Of Campus Network

The rapid development of the compute and communication technology has brought about great social reform. With the advanced high-tech technology, the speed of development will be much faster in the 21th century, which is the most advanced century of the development of human society. On the behalf of a product of the information age, Internet has far-reaching impact on people's work, study and life, which has enhanced the working efficiency and changed the living conditions. However, the network makes the world colourful with its rapidity and convenience and makes great contribution to human development. Meanwhile, it brings us many new problems such as salacious website,deceitful information, black guest, virus spread, network crime and so on.At the birth of Internet, little concern was paid on the network security. Yet with the enlargement of Internet in scale, more complex topologies, and sharply increased users, many security problems have arisen. Therefore, security has become an urgent problem during the development of Internet.As the most important component of Internet, the campus network bears the functions of applicating and promoting the new technology. All kinds of management system and electronic data are supported by the campus website. However, the former Security Strategy and System in the Campus Network of University are two-tiers' network defense strategy constructed by traditioal firewall and antivirus software, which basically satisfied the need at the beginning. But because of the increased network attacks and various attackers, the two-tiers' network defense system can hardly meet the current requirements of campus network. So comprehensive, solid and multidimensional measures of safety protection should be produced.As a good complement to firewall technology , Intrusion Detection System and Intrusion Prevention System have defected the shortcomings of firewall technology, and reinforced network security from the hardware. Campus network authentication system has enhanced the identification of network users, simplified the management of the account information and put forward a simpler and more safer network protection measures from software. This paper presented to build a distributed intrusion detection system based on the firewall mode and the establishment of a secure authentication system model. The linkage of these two technical models will ensure the greatest degree of safety of the campus network. It is believable that this network security model will also play a very good reference for other networks to build a security system.
