The electric bicycle with electricity as the driving energy has become the preferred means of transport because of its legerity,moderate cost,no pollution and low noise. It is certain that the electric bicycle will has a broad market prospect. At the same time, the electric bicycle as a new green transport is beneficial to relieve environment pollution,resource shortage,traffic jam and other difficult problems which our country is facing in the process of sustainable development and building a harmonious society. Thus, relying on scientific and technological progress, vigorously develop the electric bicycle has a considerable economic benefits and important social significance.Control system is the core of the electric bicycle, as a key component, constituting the driving system with BLDCM. Based on in-depth analysis about the driving system this thesis researchs and designs an intelligent control system including auto phase detection, voice alarm and other new type functions which can well satisfy the needs of consumers. The main work is carried out as follows:Firstly, the history and current status of electric bicycle in foreign and our country are full description and then the research challenges and development trends of electric bicycle controller are focused.Secondly, the basic structure and principle of electric bike control system are introduced emphatically, including the basic structure and principle of BLDCM and its mathematical model is also deduced, various functions of the electric bicycle controller and its working principle, the principle of speed handgrip and brake handgrip, the work principle of signal systems and lighting systems is given finally. From these overall summaries, we can lay the foundation for the next step.Thirdly, the software and the hardware design of the electric bicycle controller which the MCU ATmega88 as its control core are introduced in detail. The hardware design including the power circuit, MOSFET drive circuit, current detection circuit, voice alarm and other circuits. The softeare is designed with modular structure. Each modular structure is programmed according to control demands, such as change phase ,auto phase detection, under-voltage protection, flexible electric baking (EABS), voice alarm and speed-current control,the flow chart of each module is listed. The problems which should pay much attention in the design of the software and the hardware are also mentioned in this section.Finally, three kinds of rigorous tests to the controllor are carried out and the waveforms of key points, the characteristic curve and test data and the feelings when ride the electrical bicycle are given. Experimental results show that the designed product in this paper has got the ideal effects.
