In the exploration of electromagnetism, the problem on the electromagnetic field from a dipole source in layered media has been a topic with both significant theoretical importance and great practical value, which had been studied in the recent century worldwidely by scholars who followed the precursor research of Zenneck,Sommerfeld, etc.in early 20th century. In the present study, the propagation model was set up in two half-spaces including a homogeneous isotropic medium and a one-dimensionally anisotropic medium. From the exact formulas for the transient field from a delta function excitation,it was derived readily the exact expressions for the transient field excited by a horizontal electric gaussian source dipole when both the source and the field point are located on the boundary between a homogeneous isotropic medium and one-dimensionally anisotropic medium. It could be seen that the final exact formulas are made up of several fundamental functions and finite integrals which can be easily evaluated.A computational simulation was also carried out. Results of derivation and simulation indicated that the major component of the field in the far-zone are lateral wave pulses propagating along the boundary with different velocities and Magnitudes. |
