The most important technology in high-performance mixed-signal system is the design of high speed A/D converter. And high-speed CMOS A/D converter design is one of the technical bottlenecks which have been the focus of international research. It has a good theoretical research value and important application prospect that the research and development of new structures and methods of high-speed low power CMOS A/D converter.Among the many high-speed A/D converter structures, folding and interpolating ADC has advantages of low-power, medium accuracy, small size and high-speed, so it is widely used in high-performance data converters. This paper describes how a folding and interpolating A/D converter works, the basic design ideas and principle, and on this basis, focused on the analysis of the impact factors of folding number on the system size, power consumption, static and dynamic performance, including how it affects the system performance, then come out with some common solutions of several important elements. Finally, according to the conclusions that have been analyzed, a complete folding and interpolating quantitative system has been accomplished.
