IMT-Advanced is positioned in the higher data rate and greater system capacity, which is a new challenge of wireless communication technology. In the future, the higher frequencies will be applied in the wireless communication ,as a result, path loss attenuation will be even more serious. Through the relay technology, the traditional single-hop link is divided into several multi-hop links. As the distance has been shortened, it will greatly reduce the path loss and improve the channel quality and system performance, which provide users with faster and better service. Cooperative communication is considered as a highly promising technology. Through some special relay nodes , users in the cooperative communication networks can obtain diversity gain without increasing the complexity of terminal equipment. On the basis of the related technologies in IMT-Advanced and the current development of cooperative communication, a new mechanism of cooperative communication for the uplink of IMT-Advanced is proposed ,which is consisted of three parts :the implementation of cooperative communication in LTE-A ,relay routing algorithm and resource scheduling algorithm .
