Wireless sensor network (WSN) is currently a more concerned, involving multidisciplinary cross, knowledge highly integrated hot research area. It combines sensor technology, embedded computing technology, modern network and wireless communication technology, distributed information processing technology etc, can use different integrated micro-sensor real-time monitoring, sensing and collecting various information of the environments or objects. Information is sent in wireless way, and form a multi-hop network transport to the user's terminal, in order to connect the physical world, the calculation world and the human society.Wireless sensor network is a new type of non-infrastructure network. Compared with the traditional network, wireless sensor network have the following characteristics: have a large number of nodes and are widely distributed, each node can only control a small area around itself; the communications capability and computing capability of nodes are limited. Wireless sensor network usually carry limited energy can not be recharged at any time, so the design of wireless sensor network routing strategy should be reduce energy consumption as low as possible to prolong the life of the network.Wireless sensor network routing protocol design was affected by many factors, not only to consider energy conservation, but also the perspective of the whole network system, according to the specific application context, consider the balanced use of network energy and eventually to extend the life of the entire network. The researchers used a variety of strategies to design wireless sensor network routing, proposed a variety of routing protocols. But these routing protocols have their own limitations.This paper study the wireless sensor network technology and architecture, analyzed the classification, characteristics, design goals, performance and impact factors of routing protocol of wireless sensor network, analysis, summarized and compared with several typical routing protocols. Propose a routing strategy based on spanning tree to make the sink node as the root and the energy consumption as cost, established hierarchical routing forwarding path to transfer data. The strategy has advantages such as short data transmission time, high real-time, fault tolerance. This paper simulate the routing strategy on NS2 network simulation platform, and analyze and evaluate the simulation results.
