Data transmission system is one important component of satellite payload. Modulation and demodulation techniques are core techniques of satellite data transmission system; however, they are also the bottleneck restricting the research on high-speed data transmission system. The research on 16QAM modulation and demodulation techniques in high-speed data transmission system has great significance in improving the data transmission capacity of satellites as well as a good application prospect in the future satellite data transmission system and satellite communication system. Thus the research and development of high-speed 16QAM modulator and demodulator are of great importance, and can be a significant project for my academic research .This paper makes a comparative study on the theories concerning 16QAM transmission and develops an overall research scheme based on relative researches both at home and abroad. System modeling is built with ADS software. The influence of the main technical parameters of 16QAM modulator and communication channel characteristics on the whole system is simulated and analyzed, laying a good foundation for the future development of 16QAM system.
