With the rapid development of the computing information network, the distributed, heterogeneous and complex nature of the network is a great challenge for the network management. The management operation is controlled by remote manager, the network data may increase and the network burden may be more heave as the result of the transmitting of management operation command and operation result in the traditional network management architecture(centralization network management model), which makes more data to deal with at the same time losing guarantee of real-time monitoring. As the intensification of heterogeneous network, the increase of network size and the increase of network nodes, the lack of flexibility and intelligence are the limitation of this centralized network management. On the other hand, it seems more likely to cause network bottlenecks. Therefore, we need to research new and effective network management technology to develop a more efficient and real-time network management system.Compared with the traditional centralized network management model, the advantages of the network management base on mobile agent are as follows:(1) autonomy:Through using the communication protocol and the coordination between mobile agents to complete network management tasks.(2) mobility:Make sure that the implement of the program is as close as possible to data source to reduce network cost and average network load so that can complete the network management on time.In this paper we propose an integrated architecture based on mobile agent and Web application framework to develop a distributed network management system for network management. This system has strong reusability, easy expansion and autonomy which can greatly improve network management efficiency.The main research work and achievement are as follows:(1)Proposing an integrated architecture base on mobile agent and Web application framework and making a detailed description on the functions and principles of each component of the architecture. (2)Using IBM's aglets as a platform for mobile agent (MA) development, integrating the Spring and Hibernate application framework into the architecture and managing the network nodes by using the Advent Net SNMP. In this way, it can successfully build a network management system base on Web and it is a good way to solve the Web interoperability issuing with MA. Developing a network management system based on Web and mobile agent in order to meet the requirement of complex network management.The system architecture which combined with mobile agent, traditional SNMP network management and Web technology can improve efficiency of network management. Assigning the service agent to network nodes according to the network region can also reduce network overhead and further improve the performance of the network management system. In the matter of system development, the system can be configured by the use of Spring and Hibernate to improve develop efficiency and system portability. A Web client can communicate with the mobile agent through integrating the RMI of the spring with aglets.
