As the bloom of market economy in China and the increase of the material life within the whole society, small-sized and medium enterprises (SMEs) for sales, especially for consumable supplies sales are entering a high-speed development era. As a result, the development of the consumable supplies sales industry leads to much fiercer competition in the market. On the other hand any company want to develop in this background must firm internal management to improve operation efficiency. However, most SMEs in China are still of labor management mode. Even though the operation is specialized, the former sales models are used in information mechanism, which means there is no complete and effective information management mechanism in the company. That affects the development force of these enterprises, which will finally affect the continuous, steady and rapid development.At the same time, the operation modes of SMEs in China are collectivized and chained in trends. The former enterprise management modes have not adapted the new require of social market economy as the development. And the focus of the sales SMEs, especially chained sales enterprises is how to utilize modern information technology to make the enterprises have fast and effective market respond. According to the surveys of many SMEs, for a quite long time, the simplest labor management has been used on sales for most of them, which includes purchasing, inventory, sales and accounting. That leads to the huge quantities of workload for the stuff, poor service and lower efficiency. As the result of the above, the feedback information of the internal resources can not be handled in time, which also leads to the detaching between sales and internal resources management. Consequently, how to build and complete the modern information management mechanism for SMEs as soon as possible is becoming the key of the existence and the development.Above all, it is possible and necessary to develop a set of software which can solve the problems and satisfy require on modernization of operation and management mode in SMEs in China. The aim of this set of software is not only to decrease labor capital of the enterprises significantly but also to avoid the unnecessary workload during the daily routines. At last, the final aim of this software is to achieve more effective and reasonable management within SMEs in China.This paper designed and realized a set of management software mainly for consumable supplies, which accords to the background based on the surveys and satisfies the market require. The system mainly realized the internal daily management of the enterprises and increase data accuracy and guidance, whose operation is simple and usage is convenient.The aim of developing this set of consumable supplies purchasing-sales-inventory management information system (P-S-I) is to promote the sales of SMEs and to improve the disorders of internal resources management and the low efficiency. The data in the system makes the records of operation and sales clearer and provides the internal resources information of the enterprises and sales information when it is needed, which also decreases unnecessary labor capital. Apparently, all of this is for the SMEs to get the maximum profit with minimum cost.The management core of this consumable supplies P-S-I management information system is the inventory which can track it dynamically. The system realized the integration of purchasing system, sales and allocation, which can record the storage and sales and provides complex searching, statistics, analyses and printing tables. The data can provide firsthand information for the decision-makers in the SMEs in time and accurately.This management system mainly consists of basic files management, purchasing management, sales management, storage management, reports management and system maintenance six modules and their expected functions are as followed.·Basic Files Management Module This module is mainly designed to realize the input of the basic data of the system and the relative basic data are internal stuff information, intercourse companies and client basic information.·Purchasing Management Module This module is mainly used to realize the input of purchasing data, returning data and purchasing search and analysis.·Sales Management Module This module is mainly used to realize the input of sales data record, client returning data record and sales information search.·Storage Management Module This module is mainly used to realize the allocation, the alarm of storage data limit and storage data search.·Reports Management Module This module is mainly used to realize the reports of the stuff information, intercourse companies, supporters, sales of the stuff, purchasing analyzing, sales prices and the analysis of the sales of the stuff.·System Maintenance Module This module is mainly used to realize system client setting, operation permission setting, password modification, data backup and data recovery.The development tools of this system are Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 C# and Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and the program design methods are C/S (Client/Server) system structure and top-down. The reason why uses C/S system structure is that it is the well-known client and server structure, which is the software system architecture and by which the advantages of ends'hardware can be utilized completely. That assigns the tasks to Clients and Servers, which decreases the communication overhead of the system. Nowadays most softwares are based on C/S two-layer structure and as software system trends to distributed Web application, the Web structure and C/S can handle the same tasks and utilize the different modes to share logical blocks. As the result, the internal and the outward clients all can access the new and the existing application systems and the new application systems can be expanded from the logic of the existing application systems.Moreover this system also integrates the powerful crystal report technology. Crystal reports are utilized in handling data and helping clients to analysis and explain important information, by which the simple reports can be built conveniently and which also provide the whole tool needed by building complex or professional reporters. It can build any reports that imagined by clients and produce the reporters needed from any data resource program. The internal reporter professor will guide clients to operate step by step during producing reporters and completing the common tasks. Reporter expert tells the meaning of the data though formula, crosstabs, sub-reporters and setting conditional formatting and points the important potential hidden relations. And if the words and numbers are not abundant indeed, the information communication will be based on geographic map and graphs. The easy-printing function of this technology enhances the analyzing and storing the materials needed by sales and utilizes the regular expressions and check the validity of the strings input by operators. The trigger is utilized in SQL database, which promises the integrity of the database.
