| Li Baoyi is a renowned journalist in modern Hunan Province. Since entering the press circle in 1912 and working on the profession for 20-odd years till his death in 1936, he had undertaken much journalism practice and developed abundant journalism thought, which left Hunan Province extremely valuable materials for the journalism history study.In the introduction, the thesis firstly conducts a comprehensive review on the following questions:the reason of choosing the topic, the current state of related research, the basic structure of the thesis, innovation and deficiency of the research, then divides the body into three parts. The first part surveys Li Baoyi's life story and activities of journalism, and explores the reason that he undertakes the trade of journalism. The second part mainly explores Li Baoyi's thought on journalism. In the beginning, the thesis examines the main sources of his journalism thought, holding that his thought is derived from Laozi's philosophy, western democracy, liberalism and republicanism, modern journalism thought of the bourgeoisie as well as the time background. Then, the thesis analyses his main content of journalism thought and categorizes it into six aspects such as the requirement for the journal trade and the presentation of freedom of expression in press, giving a detailed expounding on them respectively. After this, the thesis makes a comment on Li Baoyi's journalism thought mainly from the two aspects:the historic value and the historic limitations. The last part, namely the conclusion, makes a comprehensive summary and review of the whole thesis.Like a bright shooting star in the modern journalism history, Li Baoyi is well worth studying for his abundant journalism practice and thought, which will enrich the local journalism history of Hunan Province. The research is conducted in attempt to benefit the local journalism history of Hunan Province. |
