| Quartz crystal resonator is the component to provide timing signals for electronic system. Quartz crystal resonator of many types take much the same production process with only some key procedures different. The quartz crystal, demanding a small added value on technology but low cost, is used widely. The frequency adjustment process, as the key production step of quartz crystal, is generally operated by manually grinding. The operator fixes the semi-manufactured chip into the special clamp and grinds it on the grinding wheel at a certain angle. After a period grind, he stops to measure its frequency and repeats the above operations until it reaches the standard frequency. Highly relying on the operator, the manual frequency adjustment process brings low production efficiency and product precision but high rejection rate of defects, which is far from meeting the current production demands. This article introduces an automatic frequency adjustment process basing on MCU, CPLD and mechanical control techniques. This process is implemented by using stepper motor driver to automatically grind and using CPLD to measure the frequency automatically, as well as taking MCU to control and coordinate all the unit modules. Moreover, the possible system errors and defects are analyzed and the improved measures are put forward in this article, which prompts the automatic frequency adjustment process to replace the manual operations, thus greatly improve production capacity, improve product precision and reduce cost. |
