Realistic simulation technology of natural scenes has always been a hot research field in computer graphics. And realistic simulation technology of cloud scenes is one of the most important topics in this research field. Cloud Scene Simulation Technology, not only play an important role in computer graphics and virtual reality applications, while for atmospheric meteorology, fluid mechanics and aerospace fields, also has important practical significance.On the basis of summing up research results at home and abroad, this paper studies and realizes simulation approaches of realistic cloud scenes. Classified clouds by their height to realize the clouds scenes including cirrus and Cumulus, and focus on how to simulate the illumination for two types of cloud mentioned above and the volume light. The main research contents and results summarized as follows:1. As the distribution of cirrus scene, based on two-dimensional texture space for modeling. Adopted Perlin noise to generate cloud density diagram. Designed a illumination model including reflected light and transmitted light to improve the traditional methods which can not deal with the light from different directions, under different light conditions to achieve cirrus simulation.2. To highlight the individual characteristics of cumulus clouds, model them by particle system.. Designed a twice light illumination rendering algorithm which was based on light map to simulate the effect of multiple scattering. Illumination map can achieve pixel-level precision, and thus preserve complete light information of every cloud particles.3. Research the simulation of volume light which generated for obstruction of clouds. Designed algorithms are based on post-processing for the screen space. Carried out the edge correction and alpha attenuation correction on existing algorithm, achieved the simulation of volume-light of clouds.The simulation algorithms of realistic cloud scenes above motioned have been successfully implemented in the prototype system. The simulation effects verify the correctness of studied algorithms.
