The trend of global communication has became more moving broadband and IP. The technology of Internet and audio and video have been developed so quickly. So people require more and more multimedia applications. There for, we define Rich Media, which means the collection of the audio, video, images, animations, fonts, media scenes, and the interactivity. This assay focuses on two Rich Media standards. Including the LASeR (Lightweight Application Scene Representation) defined by MPEG-4 part20, and the other is DIMS (Dynamic and Interactive Multimedia Scenes) which defined by 3GPP.Both of the two standards are based on the XML language, and use the SVG Scalable Vector Graphics language to describe the space relationship of media elements in a media scene. Because of the no damage of the SVG, it can fit on any kind of screens. The two standards also use the SMIL (Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language) to manage the time relationship of media elements.The first part, introduce the situation and field of Rich Media. The second part, introduce the base information. The third part, introduce the LASeR and DIMS. The forth part, introduce the main design of the rich media player. The fifth part, introduce the modules of the player, especially the space and the time relation, and introduce the results. The sixth part, made a conclusion of the player both the advantages and the disadvantages, also preview the development of rich media.
