Multi-layer multi-domain optical network is the trend of the development of optical networks for supporting multi-granularity major expansion of service delivery. Service configuration and resource scheduling have become two main themes in multi-layer multi-domain optical networks, while the key to the realization of network services and resources optimization is the routing in a large-scale optical network. Because of the good features of supporting service, Service-oriented Architecture (SOA) has taken more and more attention on the research. It is a good solution to network resource manangment and configurement in multi-layer multi-domain optical networks by building an A based on SOA optical netwok, which has a important impact on the future network. This paper is divided into two parts. In the first part, there is the introduction of the background of this study. First, the text introduces the characters of distributed optical network architecture and points out the differences from the traditional optical network and shows the necessary of multi-layer multi-domain networking. Second, the developing of routing in optical network is introducted and the lates progress in ASON is shown. Third, Application of OSPF in optical network is discusted in detail, and the text analysises the shortcoming of this protocol in multi-domain network. The the second part certers on the new network model name Service-Oriented Network (SON). First, SON is anaylised in detail and the text point out the characters of SON. Second, a new routing strategy named Service-Oriented Routing (SOR) is proposed for SON in multi-layer multi-domain. SOR countains a new network topology abstraction technique with service information, a new distributed-controlled routing algorithm named First Inter-domain Last Intra-domain (FILI) and a parallel signaling mechanism. Third, the simulation and experiment are introduced. According to the result of the simulation, the new stretagy can reduce the block probability by 50% for the intensive task request compared with the traditional centrolied-cotrolled network. And experiments on the multi-layer multi-domain distributed-controlled testbed verify the correctness and effectiveness of the new strategy.
