| In recent years the rapid developments of WLAN(Wireless Local Area Network) and WiMAX(Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) applications have raised new demands for antennas which act as the transmitter and receiver terminal within the wireless systems. On the one hand, antennas need to possess high-gain and directional characteristics in the point-2-point base station, while on the other hand, multi-band, low-profile and miniature are greatly demanded in the hand-held terminals. This paper gives emphasis to the designs of multi-band WLAN/WiMAX antennas, and also studies the related method and technology.Firstly, the lately researches of multi-band WLAN/WiMAX antennas are introduced, including the realization methods of multi-band, miniaturization and high-gain.Secondarily, the concepts of antenna are introduced as basic theories. Then, based on the ideas of printed antenna, several antennas applied to WLAN/WiMAX are proposed and researched:1.Tri-band CPW-fed dual rectangular monopole antenna covering the bands of WLAN/WiMAX.2.Tri-band microstrip-fed monopole antenna with slotted ground plane for WLAN/WiMAX applications.3.Dual-band printed MIMO antenna system with enhanced isolation for WLAN.4.Dual-band dipole antenna integrated with balun for applications of WLAN.5.Tri-band dipole antenna integrated with balun for coverage of WLAN/WiMAX.6.Tri-band printed slot antenna for WLAN/WiMAX coverage. Finally, considering the high-gain feature demand for the base station, we put forward three kinds of high-gain slot antenna with windowed metallic cover, which all meet the WLAN coverage demands. |
