Intelligent building is the product of the information age.It is the application of information technology based on computer technology and network technology in the construction industry.Building automation system is the foundation and the core of intelligent building. In the field of building automation,EIB not only becames a actual European standard but also becames one of the international standards because of its open, simple and compatible feature. EIB standard defines a norm of control information transmission and exchange, which can easily realizes the communication between devices.EIB protocol followed OSI reference model, and integrated the session layer and presentation layer into the application layer, using the simplified five layers which are physical layer, data link layer, network layer , transport layer and application layer. Designing and implementing an protable and easy-to-reduce EIB protocol stack to avoid the repeat of EIB device software develop in the disparate building automation systems is the focus of this paper. This paper firstly described some of the mainstream protocols in the building automation field, and then introduced and analyzed the OSI reference model and EIB standard. In the implementation part, the paper then discussed the design of EIB objects and service, gave the service interface of physical layer and data link layer, designed the state machine of data link layer, program flow chart of CSMA/CA and part of implementation code. Finally,It tested the EIB protocol stack which developed by C programming language. The test result showed that the protocol stack runs well and is in accordance with the EIB protocol standard. The implementationed EIB protocol stack in this paper has some value for designing and developing intelligent building control equipment products that meet the EIB standard.
