With the development of wireless technology, as well as sensor technology and embedded system, wireless sensor network is playing an increasingly important role in the daily lives. As the need from the medical field and wearable servicese, the research on the WBAN Network has become a hot spot of wireless communication system.Constrained by the battery size of sensor nodes, limited energy has been the the most important feature of WBAN, so well-designed hardware systems and network protocols which consume as little as possible energy has become the primary consideration in WBAN system design. In addition, the network channel characteristics are changeable, so it require as much as possible to simplify the network structure, which can reduce the routing information and relieve the burden of entire network.In this paper, firstly I analyze the channel characteristics and energy consumption characteristics of WBAN network and give the target of the system design. Then according to the characteristics of WBAN, indicating a class-Mesh architecture is suitable for WBAN network architecture. Secondly, after clearfy the specific needs of WBAN network and business applications, I design and implement the specific hardware platform. For the central control platform, due to the need for user interaction and video processing, the PXA270 and TMS320DM642 device is selected as the core device of hardware platforms. For sensor node, due to the need to offer lower power consumption while providing powerful computing capabilities, MSP430 and CC2420 are selected as the core device to build sensor module. ECG, blood oxygen, temperature and humidity information are choosed as applications that would be gather by sensor node. Through the construction of a complete hardware platform, a good foundation is laid for further study of network protocols.In the end of article, the consideration on MAC layer protocol design and the possibility and significance of spectrum detection of wireless have been discussed.
