For a long time, The development of optical communication technology is based on high-speed large-capacity long-distance oriented. Although the existing optical network has been able to provide sufficient transmission capacity, their intelligence is still at a very preliminary stage. Currently there has already undertaken a number of studies on the intelligent optical network, such as Automatic Switched Optical Network, but these studies only focus on the improvement of optical circuit switching networks intelligent in the exchange level, it is still far from meeting the demand of random and burst IP traffic.Intelligent optical network self-sensing technology researches on various types of highly intelligent optical network on a higher level. It should not only monitor and sense optical signal parameters and quality in physical layer, the topology and link load of the optical network, but also monitor the characteristics of the traffic it carries and its requirements to optical network including time delay, jitter, and packet loss rate, etc. Thus it could truly realize the optical networks independent optimization, autonomous operation, Self-management and Self-maintenance.Based on this background, in order for the further research and experiment of the intelligent optical networking self-sensing technology, this paper provides the design of self-sensing optical network experiment platform, and the hardware implementation of the experiment Platform. It has achieved the following research results in this paper: 1. The architecture design of self-sensing optical network experimental system, including four core nodes used for routing and three edge nodes used for service access and service self-sensing.2. Functional design, chip selection and hardware implementation of the edge nodes and the core nodes of self-sensing optical network experimental system3.
