Wireless communication channel is an important part of wireless communication. It has been widely researched in this field. As it infers to many technologies such as modulation coding,signal processing and so on, there are great values in both theory and practice to study and simulate its characteristics of propagation. It is a basic problem for the simulation of wireless channel to produce the Rayleigh fading.In this paper, firstly, the important characteristics and fading reasons of wireless are discussed and Rayleigh fading is determined to be the key point. Then the existing mathematical models are introduced, including Clarke model which is a classical model, AR model which fits for complex communication environments, Markov model which based on channel memory property and other models. Then, for classical Clarke mathematical model, traditional simulation methods of Smith filter model and Jakes model are introduced and analyzed, and different improved Jakes model are proposed and compared. Then these models are simulated by matlab and the realization of software of these models is described detailed. It's proved by simulation that the designed fading channel is consistent with the characteristics of wireless channel.
