The Design And Implementation Of Ad Hoc Network Management Paltform

Ad Hoc network is a mobile network without the supporting of wired base stations, in which all of the nodes are mobile hosts. Due to the flexibility of Ad Hoc network, it usually is used in military affairs, disaster relief areas, as well as research area. However, it is different from the mobile IP Internet, because it can be only connected with wireless link. And also, host communication coverage is limited in Ad Hoc network. If two hosts which are farther apart to communicate, the forwarding by the node between them is needed. So host in Ad Hoc network is also a router which completes the work of routing and message transmitting. Generally the route is constituted with multiple hops, and the data should be forwarded several times before getting to the destination. Therefore, Ad Hoc is also called multiple hop wireless networks.In view of Ad Hoc network having a wide range of application requirements in real life and the current research of Ad Hoc network at domestic and abroad, the broadband communications and network laboratory of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications sets up a project team for wireless self-organizing network platform. The project aims to build a real environment about Ad Hoc network, as a result the research of Ad Hoc network will be shifted from theory to practice. And also it will make up the shortcomings of theoretical research and to promote in-depth theoretical study of Ad Hoc network through practical experience came from the project.The second chapter describes the concept characteristics and application areas of Ad Hoc networks, as well as the distinction between the mainstream and Ad Hoc network, Ad Hoc network routing protocol will also be mentioned. Then it will introduce the test platform for wireless ad hoc networks, and the significance of the project in completion of the project overview.The third chapter focus on the design and implementation of the network management system of Ad Hoc network platform, which are included topology management, routing protocol management, and integration of heterogeneous network management. And the algorithms of permanent management node elected, topology collection, topology mapping, auto switch routing protocol will be explained.The fourth chapter carries out the entire project, as well as the prospects of this project.
