This paper mainly described on IP-based set-top boxes how to implement SIP-based PRESENCE service.The current set-top boxes are no longer restricted to the home multimedia digital-platform, more will be the interoperability, multimedia information sharing between families and home network application platform. More business, such as instant messaging, SNS service will be office in the set-top box. These businesses have the relevant state, but now the set-top boxes do not show a unified business program for the presence of business. The PRESENCE as presence services in the field of instant messaging are mainly used in MSN, QICQ, GTALK,etc. Presence businesses can capture each other's latest real-time performance, and thus decide whether to initiate communication and what kind of means of communication used to connect to each other. At the same time the state of their own can also be presented to the other, indicating their acceptable means of communication and free time. We have the presence business and the set-top box-business combined together and achieved a SIP-based presence services. This is the main work of the paper.Paper first introduces the background of the subject, the development of set-top boxes, as well as the purpose of the paper and so on, and then focuses on the SIP protocol standards, including SIP operation, logical entity and message structure, as well as the presence business. On this basis, the paper expounds presence system design and implementation, gives the system module division, dividing out the Register module, PRESENCE module, Stack module, XCAP Client module, XML module, PUBLISH module, which, PRESENCE module for subscriptions and notifications, PUBLISH module for publishing.Finally, we deploy IM business on the set-top boxes and further verify PRESENCE system functionality.
