Research And Design Of IPTV Management Support Platform

With the rapid development of network and multimedia technologies, IPTV has been one of the hot points of research recently. In order to make a relatively comprehensive study of IPTV, an IPTV system, which is called Banacast IPTV, has been carried out, by a series of technologies such as streaming media, application layer multicast, P2P, XML, database, etc. It includes subsystems such as video capturing & encoding system, video recording & editing system, live system, VOD system, time-shift TV system, content managing system, billing & charging system, EPG managing system and web portal, etc. In order to ensure each subsystem works in normal and improve the system security, it is necessary to provide a support platform to manage these subsystems uniformly.The paper introduces a management support platform for IPTV, which includes three subsystems: security monitoring system, manager user authentication system and file transfer system. The security monitoring system monitors status of processes, video streaming and network, and when some faults happen and recover, it will send alert information as SMS message via GSM modem and/or QQ message via the instant messenger QQ. In the security monitoring system, an algorithm to filter alarm contents is proposed, which makes the alert activity more effective. The manager user authentication system identifies manager users of each subsystem in Banacast IPTV system uniformly and manages the authority allotment of them. It mainly consists of authorization type management and super user management. For the sake of the integration with subsystems, the login client is implemented by COM technology. File transfer system can monitor the changes of files by I/O completion port technology and system API functions and synchronize with files in remote directories with appropriate file transfer mechanism.IPTV management support platform takes into account well about the characteristic of commonality, scalability, security and real-time response. It is developed by modularization design method in order to achieve the goal of high cohesion and low coupling.
