As one of the organizational forms of business, family business supplies many jobs and creates huge wealth. It is an impetus to economic growth of the world. At present, it is time for many family enterprises in the world to face to the succession problem. It is controversial on the succession problem of family business between west scholars. At present, scholars have some studies on this succession problem of family business. But there is little study from the culture of family perspective. The paper defines "fang" and sums up some principles of dividing up "fang". There are several influences on succession problem of family business in China that from the systems of dividing up family fortune: transferring the leadership from fathers to sons or sons-in-law or foster sons or the eldest sons is relative to the different systems of dividing up family fortune. The paper also analyzes the differences of succession between China and Japan. It tries to find a success way to succession problem of family business in China.The paper has eight chapters. Chapter one introduces the problem and the meaning of the theory. Chapter two is a survey of present theories on this problem. Chapter three expatiates the characters of families in China and systems of family. Chapter four expounds the influences on succession of family business that from traditional systems of dividing up family fortune. Chapter five analyzes the differences of succession between China and Japan and the culture foundations. Chapter six sums up the characters of succession of family enterprises in Europe, America and south-east of Asia. Chapter seven analyzes the present situation of succession of family business in China and tries to find a way to this problem. Chapter eight is a case of the dividing up of the family of Bao Yugang.
