With only 1km2 area, Shan Wang basin has a great deal of well preserved fossils buried inMiocene and Pliocene. This basin is well known as a "Fossil treasury" all over the world andthus has a special status in the geological field. In 1990s, some geologists suggested the basinwas a crater, which was different from the pre-ideas about the basin genesis. Therefore, formation and preservation of the Shan Wang basin and its fossils should have a closerelationship with volcanic activities. These years, more and more people began to realize theimportance of protecting geological remains, and Shan Wang has successfully become a NationalGeopark. Now overall evaluating the geologically traveling resources of Shan Wang hassignificance not only in science, but also in economy and sustainable development.Volcanic rocks in Shan Wang are low in SiO2 (from 42.3 to 51.5 wt %), rich in alkaline(K2O+Na2O=3.9~5.4 wt %), and high in Ti, P (TiO2=2.5 wt% , P2O5>0.3 wt%). The rocks aremainly composed of alkaline olivine basalts and basanites, and lots of lava layers had ultra-maficxenoliths and megacrysts. Their REE presents right-oriented liner patterns with high LREE,LILE and HFSE, especially rich in Nb and Ta, similar to the characteristics of OIB. Our researchsuggests that various contents of elements were controlled by partial melting of mantle rocks(melting degree <5%), neither by fractional crystallization nor by crustal contamination. Here thevolcanic rocks usually have high εNd (the average is +3.6) and low 87Sr/86Sr (the average is0.7039). Combined with Pb, these isotopic characteristics indicate that the magmas came fromthe mantle depth and the sources were getting deeper. It is the deep magma sources and compositions of the Shan Wang volcanic rocks that is notjust an important factor to bury large numbers of creatures quickly, but also make many greatgeological scenes at the same time. These sights now have become main tourism resources inthis national Geopark. According to the standard classification of tourism resources in ourcountry, the geological scenes of Shan Wang basin were classified into three groups: volcaniclandscapes, stratigraphic sequences and fossil specimens. In this paper, all kinds of geologicalviews and their genesis have been described and deciphered in detail, and then evaluatedscientifically based on scientific, aesthetic and cultural values. Besides, we use STP (Segmenting,Targeting and Market positioning), a primary marketing theory, to do marketing analysis for theNational Geopark of Shan Wang. By using spatial geography and demography to predictmarketing positioning, we suggest that the target market should be focused on students atcolleges and schools, people from enterprises and institutions, teachers, technicians and suchintellectual groups. The specific ages of these people are under 18, and from 24 to 45 with highincome (>3000$).What's more, Changyi volcanic group should have other crater basins also with diatomite. These basins could be a new way for diatomite deposits, good places for visitors to engage inarchaeological studies on their own, and possibly new bases for scientific discovery.
