Empirical Research On Investment And Economic Growth In Chongqing

80 percent of the economic growth of Chongqing was fueled by investment, and investment will play an important role in the development of this young municipality. To make researches on investment of Chongqing, to analyze its quantity, quality and change, its dimension, industrial structure, regional distribution and its efficiency is helpful to optimize its industrial structure and its allocation, to produce the best possible results on economic growth.The research chooses the relationship of investment and economic growth of Chongqing as subject. With the mathematic tools of EVIEWS,MAPPLE, the research analyzes the statistical data on the investment in the fixed assets. The research establishes the regression model on the data of the investment flow, the investment stock and GDP, and finds the investment stock is sufficient and the investment efficiency is high. Comparing the distribution and the efficiency of investment in all three industries, the research finds there are a little deviation between the investment structure and the demand structure, and a pressing need to adjust the industrial structure of investment. Evaluating the efficiency of investment in different regions of Chongqing, the research gets a result that there is a great possibility to optimize allocation of investment. Furthermore, the dimension of investment and the economic growth in the future are forecasted. Proposals on the restructuring of investment, on the improvement of its efficiency, and on the coordination of its related factors are made.There are three highlights in the research. First, I distinguish between the investment structure and the industrial structure, and enrich the theory of investment industrial structure. Second, I analyze the relationship of investment and economic growth from different angles, such as dimension of investment, investment structure and regional distribution. Third, I adopt all kinds of methods, such as the perpetual inventory method in the calculation of the stock, adding lagged variable in the regression equation, DEA in calculation of multiple input variable. The research, which is just a study on regional investment, might supply practical reference to other related researches and administrative departments.
