The single currency is the European dream of dozens of years.European Monetary Agreement was signed by the European Economic Community in 958. In December1969 the European Economic Community decided to establish the Economic and Monetary Union and set about founding one kind of unified currency at the summit meeting. In February 1972, the minister council of the European Economic Community passed " Economic and Monetary Union Report", which was an important step that the European Economic Community carried out the monetary integration. In December 1978 the European Economic Community started to establish the European monetary system (EMS), which impelled the development of the European economic integration. In 1989 the European Economic Community passed "Delors Report" that was about the European Economic and Monetary Union, which core goal was establishing the Europe Central Bank, issuing the single currency and coordinating economic policy of various countries. This report impelled the European economic integration to enter a new stage. In December 1991 all heads of the European Economic Community passed the European Union Treaty, which was also called"Maastricht Treaty". On January 1, 1999,Euro as "book currency" was published and started up.Euro was first used by eleven members of European Union besides Britain, Denmark, Greece and Sweden. And Greece joined secondly on January 1, 2000. Euro successed in starting up, which was most tremendous change of the world monetary structure since the Bretton Woods System collapsed, indicated the European Economic Union stepped out the important step toward the monetary unification and laid the important foundation for the establishment of genuine European Union.Britain is an important country of Europe, but it is not actually initiator of the European Economic Community and it was even against from establishing this kind of organization at the beginning.
