The Research Of Institutional Shareholder Activism

Since the mid-late 1990s, China started the reform of state owed enterprises, and that attracted the attention of all circles especially academic researcher. Chinese scholars pay much attention in internal control system while they are studying the corporate governance mechanism. Furthermore, they focus much on the corporate market of control while they studied the external control system. The specific and systematic study of institutional shareholder activism is comparably lack. However, with a larger number of and more diversified institutional investors emerging in China, how to leverage institutional investors'monitoring to improve the governance of Chinese companies is a topic that may be meaningful to the future practice.This thesis is about the institutional shareholder activism in China.
