Based on the theory of tectonic analysis and the method of balanced cross section, the geometry and kinematic characters, the tectonic styles and its superimposition relationship, the unconformity and tectonic movements, the tectonic evolution in Linqing Depression are discussed in detail. By interpreting seismic profile, making balanced cross section and structural evolution section, analyzing unconformity, made the following conclusions:The tectonic movements of Linqing Depression can be divided into five stages, that are, the Luliang movement, the Caledonian movement, the Indosinian movement, the Yanshan movement and the Himalayan movement. Based on the tectonic movement and unconformity, the cap can be divided in to four structural layers, namely Cambrian-middle Jurassic synthem, Cretaceous synthem, Paleogene synthem and Neogene-Quaternary synthem.Compression is the dominant tectonic style before Cretaceous, while tension is the major tectonic styles since Cretaceous. In accordance to the deformation which was recorded in the structural layer, the deformation sequence of Linqing Depression and adjacent areas are composed of Indosinian-Yanshan compressional deformation, early Cretaceous extensional deformation, late Yanshan compressional deformation and Paleogene wide scale extensional deformation.Linqing Depression has experienced five tectonic evolution stages. From Cambrian to middle Ordovician, it was marine facies cratonic basin. From upper Carboniferous to middle Triassic, it was interior basin. In early-middle Jurassic, it was compression deflection basin. In Cretaceous, it was orogenic collapse basins. In Cenozoic it was rift basin. The basal controled the Mesozoic-Cenozoic tectonic evolution in Linqing Depression. Due to the soft basal, Linqing depression deposited thick Mesozoic strata, and the Mesozoic strata experienced strong deformation. Based on comprehensive analysis, paper suggests that the lithosphere of North China Craton became the most thick in late Jurassic. In early Cretaceous the lithosphere began thinning and the Craton started broken.
