Composites is indispensable material in national defense and aerospace fie lds.Composites has a high specific strength and high specific stiffness characteristics.With the rapid development of composites, people study on its strength in depth.While in the molding process of the composites, different processes can lead todifferent properties of the composites. In the ae rospace field, the shell type ofstructure is very common. The buckling fa ilure is one of the main forms of shellstructural damage, the cylindrical shell is very common. In this paper, mechanicaltests are based on two different composite plates of differ ent type. And bucklinganalysis has been done for composite cylindrical shell.In Chapter One, advanced composite materials have been introduced.Advanced composite materials use widely in the field of national defense andaerospace. Composite materials are widely used as a high-tech new materials in thefie ld of aerospace and national defense. People need to do more research onadvanced composite materials to meet the needs of modern science and technology.Therefore, it is very important to do research on composite materials in depth.In Chapter Two, the basic theory of laminates are introduced. Several strengthcriteria have introduced briefly. And introduce the stress-strain relationship of thelaminates and the expression forms of the laminates in the forces and torques.In Chapter Three, the tensile, compression, shear and fracture tests have beendone in the quasi-static. Get the basic mechanical properties of the two differentmaterials under the quasi-static loading rate. And discuss the reasons of thedifferences in the mechanical properties of two different materials from themicroscopic point of view.In Chapter Four, introduce the Hopkinson bar briefly, and the tensile andcompressive test have been done under the dynamic impact by Hopkinson bar fortwo different materials. Get the basic mechanical properties of the two differentmaterials under the dynamic impact. Discuss the effect of the strain rate on themechanical properties of the two different materials.In Chapter Five, buckling analys is has been done of cylindrical shells of twodifferent materials by ABAQUS. Get the buckling eigenva lues and the bucklingload. Calculate the stress under the buckling load. And compared with the strengthgot by the test.
