The dissertation consists of three parts:firstly, the overview of biological data integration is given. Secondly, some further discussion of metabolic pathway integration and automated schema matching methods. Finally, a metabolic pathway integration system is introduced.(1) A method of similarity derivation based integration of metabolic pathway database system is given. Through the analysis of the characteristics of metabolic pathway data, combining structure-level based schema matching method, the Similarity Flooding algorithm is used on the graph of metabolic pathway data. The assessment of similarity of data has made it effective to integrate heterogeneous data sources.(2) Design and implemented a metabolic pathway visualization system. The system uses dynamic layout graphic user end with simple coloring mechanism and efficient neighbor tag system to enhance using experience. Users can design and analyze the metabolic pathways of their own interest, comparing with public source data through our graphic interface.(3) Design and implemented a metabolic pathway integration system. The advantages of the system are as follow:1) The data from heterogeneous and autonomic biological data sources are transferred into DB4O data files which can be loaded directly by the data warehouse.2) The cross-linking relationships between different data sources are stored in an unified DBLink table.DBLink allows a user to quickly search out all the items related to the user specified item no matter in which data source reside those items.3) Through the use of similarity derivation algorithm on the DBLink table, the similarity table, which contains the value of similarity of any two IDs in the data warehouse, is calculated and can guide the establishment of relations between the data match.4) The system uses dynamic layout graphic user end with simple coloring mechanism and efficient neighbor tag system to enhance using experience. Users can design and analyze the metabolic pathways of their own interest, comparing with public source data through our graphic interface.5) The different ways of querying data are provided. Each type of data can be acquired quickly and conveniently by adopting an appropriate way of querying.
