Accuracy Assessment For GlobCover2009Based On Reclassification Strategy Of Random Samples In Ordos Region

Land cover products of global and regional scale are greatly importantbasic information for land surface research. The specifically research mainlyemphasis on the accuracy of the several kinds of land cover products havebeen generated. Therefore, the land cover classification accuracy assessmenthas great significance. The common used accuracy assessment measures suchas sampling method, error matrix, accuracy indexs and Kappa analysis etc..Among the sampling methods random sampling with the advantage of eachsample has the same probability to be choose. Aim to make sure therandomness and no bias of training data, this research applied the randomsampling measure to evaluate the classification accuracy of theGlobCover2009data product.In this research, Ordos region as the study area to create100randomsamples within this region, then to conduct land cover classification forLansat5TM image of study area by utilize Maximum Likelihood Method.According to calculate the both parameters Jeffries一Matusita distance andTransformed Divergence value between each types of training data to improvethe quality of training data, finally get the classification result with highaccuracy and reliability, then to compare the land cover types of GlobCoverand maximum likelihood classification result to statistics the uniformitybetween each land cover types. Basis of above mentiond comparison, regardto misclassification types and spatial distribution to estimate the the accuracyof GlobCover2009product. The results show that just few land cover typesare have been misclassified, which separately distributed over the all Ordosregion, but each of miscalssified land types has different spatial distribution,and GlobCover2009product with the overall accuracy of42%.In this research to conduct evaluation the accuracy for GlobCover2009 based on reclassification strategy of random samples in Ordos region,successfully achieve the purpose of accuracy assessment of GlobCover2009to supplement and enrich the database.
