In the international energy situation, shale oil has become the new hope of the changeamong the energy pattern and relieve the pressure of energy between demands and supplies.In this article I study the n1and n2shale interval in the region of northern songliao basin asour study area, studying generation condition, predicting favorable areas and calculatingresource potential of shale oil in this area. According to the geological features of shale,geological background and the mechanism of shale oil reservoir forming in the region ofnorthern songliao basin. There developed a vast area of semideep-deep lacustrine facies in then1and n2shale interval. There developed a lot of dark shale and mudstone, the abundance oforganic matter is very high, the thermal evolution of organic is perfect, currently, it is in thestage of oil generation. Under scanning electron microscope, the n1and n2shale interval havedense structure. It belongs to the type of reservoir of low porosity and permeability. Itdeveloped microscopic pore structures. It provides the space for the hydrocarbonaccumulation or reservoir formation. Lots of the gas logging abnormality and inrush of oilindicate that the n1and n2shale interval have a good oil saturation. The study area meet thestandard of generation condition of shale oil, this strata of shale is possessed of a greatexploration potential.3favorable areas have been preferably selected. I calculate the shale oilgeologic resource and the shale oil workable resource of the n1and n2shale interval in theregion of northern songliao basin. It turned out that the n1and n2shale interval in the regionof northern songliao basin has a great exploration potential.
