ATP-binding cassette transporters are present in all beings and constitute a very large protein family. Among the ABC transporters, the pleiotropic drug resistance (PDR) family is relatively particular, since its members are found only in fungi and plant. Members of this gene family may get energy from hydrolyzing ATP, change protein conformation, and participate in the function of plant secondary metabolite, including plant secondary metabolites, transportation and stress responses. This article, based on the cloning of full length cDNA of gene PgPDR2, we analysised and predicted the function and structure of this protein by optimizating and useing bioinformatics computer softwares. And then we did orthologous gene comparison and phylogenetic analysis of PgPDR2from nucleotide databases, analyzed its amino acids composition, physical and biomedical propertie, also predicted its secondary structure and tertiary structure by bioinformatics softwares. Results shows that the PgPDR2have high homology with plant PDR genes. Panax ginseng PgPDR2protein is a stable protein, it contains no signal peptide, it contains two transmembrane domain and also phosphatase sites, its conserved protein domain contains ATP binding site, ABC transporter signature motif, Walker A and Walker B domains. Secondary structure of PgPDR2protein contains alpha helix, extended strand and random region and tertiary structure is present inverse V-shape. These nucleotide and protein structure characteristics of PgPDR2show that it may have the functions as a ginsenoside transporter, and may play important role in the transportation of plant secondary metabolites. The results of PgPDR2bioinformatics analysis provide significant theoretical basis for deeper research of its functions.
