Land resources are irreplaceable resource for human survival and development. It’s very important to protect and legitimately plan the land resources. Remote sensing technology provides the most effective ways and means of dynamic detection of land resources. Ecological land is an important part of land resources, it relates to the quality of the entire ecosystem and people’s vital interests. According to the study area in DaFeng city of JiangSu province and using different data sources of Remote sensing images, this paper made a preliminary study of ecological land remote sensing information extraction and trellis coding. The data in this paper mainly include the QuickBird images of2011and ZY3remote sensing images of2012. Firstly, using a variety of information filtering and classification methods, combined with the status of land use map, making fully understanding of the spectral characteristics of the study area’s feature information and each band. It provides a theoretical basis for the subsequent ecological land information extraction. Secondly, we used unsupervised classification, supervised classification and object-oriented information extraction to classify the study area. Then we make a comparative analysis of the accuracy of the three classification methods and different data sources. After the information extraction, we divided the ecological land by5Km X2.5Km regular rectangular grid, and made trellis coding of the ecological land by24coding.The results show that the accuracy of object-oriented classification may meet the requirements, and the information obtained by this way is more accurate and reliable. The structure of ecological study area grid coding is simple. It’s easy to combine with the parcel/cadastral coding. Besides, it has a good inheritance and makes the foundation for Ecological Land Grid Survey System.
