Abstract In this paper, the differences between tide surge at different terrain arestudied, especially the storm surge caused by typhoon and cold air. This researchaffords data and technologies for the accurate forecast of storm surge on seacoasts ofeach districts, and a supplement for risk regionalization of other marine disaster andthe determination of warning water level for storm-surge-prevention.Five regions are dividing based on the tide and terrain data, they coveringroughly zhoushan sea area from the north to the south, we chose five tide stationsincrease the role of tides analysis. though for few numbers of tide stations anddifferent data age,but five regional division is largely representative of the five kindsof seafloor topography outlook, taking into account the topography of the island nearthe coast, close to the mainland coast and the islands main case centers; for stormsurge also launched a targeted research and analysis; cited station is alsorepresentative of the actual ocean tide forecasting data referenced station. It can besaid that meets the qualitative aspects of regional analysis, but also to maintainsynchronization with the work, the results of the analysis should be able to workeffectively applied to the storm-surge-preventionThe laws of storm surge in geographic location of Zhoushan sea area are studiedand summarized, which is suitable to the much more requirements of the accurateforecasts and warning, and is a further improvement and reinforcement with great realpurpose. In this paper, study is to be carried out under the research rout below:compare the relationship among the terrain of seabed, depth and geographic locationof five representative tide-station, the district characteristics and differences of terrainare classified by the comparing to induce the classifying methods of terrains; analyzethe tide of each tide stations and then their tide types, characteristics, average sea leveland common surge feature; deduce and induce the outline of storm surge; find thelaws of different storm surge at different terrains in terms of the terrain division, tideanalysis and storm surge analysis.According to the determination of for districts, risk division and evaluation ofZhoushan the author collects the data of the geology and terrains of Zhoushan, the seachart, meteorology, hydrology, ocean disaster, and the data of terrains, physiognomy, meteorology and disasters are obtained. The latter work of verification of tide dataand the transformation of datum plane do the spadework for future research. The results show:(1) the effect of sea-plots divided by each tide-station on thesurge decreases progressively from south to north. Influenced by the same weathersystem, the storm surge get to the highest level at Dinghai station, and decreaseprogressively like a fan-shaped pattern from the centre, Dinghai station, to otherdistricts, and the storm surge is usually higher in South than the North.(2) The valueof typhoon storms is considerably different at each tide-station, but that is much loweramong the temperate zone storm.
