With the demand of liquefied natural gas(LNG) growing, China ClassificationSociety(CCS) introduced some related norms which have a lot of calculations andmanual workload. In order to reduce the manual workload and avoid errors caused bymanual operation, we studying the normative content, using the finite elementmethod(FEM), developed a direct strength calcutation of structural and fatiguesoftware by using PCL based on MSC.Patran. The main contents include: cabinrecognition, sloshing loads, thermal loads, yield checking, Buckling and fatigueassessment.Researching the algorithms of cabin recognition, and designed topologyalgorithm and segmentation algorithm, both can effectively and automaticallyrecognise cabins. For loads and loadcase, mainly to study the sloshing, thermal load, introduce the calculation method of all level sloshing loads, explain the basicprinciples and ideas of the temperature field analysis. Then made the introductionpost-processing analysis included yield checking, Buckling, fatigue assessment andso on, introduce their basic principles and methods, describe the calculationmethods, Buckling division method and the checking process in detail.Through using the software by CCS to test the real ship, correctness andfeasibility of the calculation has been recognized, it can greatly reduce the surveyors’workload and survey period, the calculation process is simple and conventient, flexible and easy to use functional modules, high accuracy and avoid errors caused bymanual operation, improve the inspection ability of classing LNG ship for CCS, it’sverified that the software has a strong pratical value.
