Fault is not only an important channel for hydrocarbon migration, but also a shelterconditions of hydrocarbon accumulation, oil and gas accumulation into possession of a dualrole. From the channel effect, oil and gas migrate along the fault plane vertically; when closedfrom the role of fault in the lateral, it prevent oil and gas wear off level migration, the verticaldirection prevent oil and gas migration along the section up reservoir. In the oil and gasexploration and development process, the fault vertical closed is increasingly important, manyscholars have discussed different aspects and angles on the vertical seal of faults.In this paper, the fault vertical sealing ability of the research progress was summarizedand the system was researched, including: the vertical sealing mechanism of fault, the mainmode, fault vertical sealing ability of the main influencing factors and common researchmethods. This paper discusses the related experiments of fault vertical sealing ability, mainlyinclud fault shale content and the fault plane pressure to determine the lower limit of theexperiment. Key factors affect the fault vertical seal of good and bad is the section closed, ifthe section is closed, the vertical seal of fault, oil and gas can’t migrate along the verticalsection, otherwise, the open fault is for hydrocarbon migration channel. Section closed sectionsuffered available positive pressure to measure the size. Of vertical seal mechanism based onfault analysis, fault vertical closed major influenced by the factors of section pressure, fracturefiller particle size, clay content and the dip angle. Aiming at the fault vertical sealing factorsof related experimental study, I established the evaluation standard of vertical sealing ability,combining with the related influencing factors, physical model is set up and develop physicalsimulation experiment.Through to the Beier-Wuerxun depression control action of concave fault on reservoiranalysis, I determine the specific area of experimental application, analyzes the main faults,and determine the fault vertical sealing ability of the actual situation.Under differentconditions, respectively, I establish fault confining pressure and the change of permeabilitycurve and the qualitative evaluation of regional fault vertical sealing ability of the application.Simulating the fault dip Angle closure with the experiment open critical pressure diagram, Iget the corresponding influence factors on the influence law of fault vertical sealing ability, incombination with the practical situation of the study area compared.
