Daye city in Hubei province, a historic mining industry and metallurgical industrialcity, is currently facing many problems such as, resource-based industries recession, overall economic downturn, a great amount of unemployed workers, falling livingstandards, ecological destruction recession. serious environmental pollution and otherproblems. Daye is the first batch of resource-exhausted transition city of county-level in2008.Driving by demographic, economic and policy factors, the major changes in land-usepattern happened in Daye. Researches in land-use change and space landscape pattern haveimportant significance in revealing the rules of land-use change and achieving the sustainableuse of land. This paper is based on the following data: land-use data of three years TM images inDaye city in1990,1995and2001: the land cover types in the synthesis of raster dataproducts in Hubei province taken in MODIS from Terra satellite images in2001,2006and2011(spatial resolution of500m×500m) and other data, by using remote sensing imageprocessing software ERDAS9.2and combining Daye1:250,000topographic maps, theauthor processes the data by correcting the above image geometric, enhancing the image andprécising registration. At the same time, referring to " land use classification " nationalstandard executed in August2007, the author re-classify the remote sensing image of abovesix phase of the of land-use. By using the ArcGIS9.3software, the author generates thetransfer matrix, construct the transfer of land-use models and analyze land-use andland-cover change of part of township and Daye city from changes of the amount of landresources and changes of the extent of land use. Om the other hand, using the theory oflandscape ecology, combining Fragstats3.3software, and selecting eight indicators oflandscape elements and three landscape heterogeneity index from the class level and thelandscape level. the author makes a quantitative analysis of the change of land-use andlandscape pattern of Daye of county-level from1990to2011.The main conclusions aresummarized as follows:1.From the aspect of the regional distribution of land use types, the type of landresources and part of the township of Daye have similarities and differences. In1990-2000,security and Dongfeng farm town land is similar to the type of resources and arable land, and the waters are dominated: Dongyue Road are dominated by farmland, water-based,followed by construction land: arable land in each the farmland is in an absolute dominantposition in land use type, mainly in the Midwest and Northeast regions, followed bywoodland, mainly in the southeastern area. In2001-2011years, the land resources type ofBaoan town and Daye city has no significant change. The proportion of land resources ofDongyue Road gradually decreased, the proportion of woodland and grassland increasedgradually, tending towards equilibrium development.2.From the aspect of the number of changes of land resources. In1990and2000. Landuse changes of Baoan county are most obvious in waters and unused land: Most obviouschange of Dongfeng farm for each type of land use is arable land and waters: Land usechange of East Yue Road is relatively small: The change of land use types of Daye city arethe most obvious in arable land. In2001-2011years, land use change of various types ofBaoan town are the most obvious in farmland and woodland: land use change of varioustypes of Dongfeng farm are the more obvious in woodland, grassland and water, whichreduced some of the major changes in the waters of forest land and grass: land use change ofvarious types of Dongyue Road is the most obvious in grass: land use change of varioustypes of of Daye city is the more obvious changes in arable land, grassland and water, inwhich part of the increase comes mainly from arable grassland and water of reducing part3.From the aspect of change of land use degree. In1990and2000the use of landresources of Baoan town Dongyue Road and Daye city has been relatively stable, and at ahigh level. While land resources utilization of Dongfeng farm is relatively low compared toother regions, and showing a decreasing trend. In last5years, The development of Dayecity and Baoan town is very gentle, while Dongfeng farm and Dongyue Road do have anadjustment period, and the Dongfeng farm is in more significant adjustment: After fiveyears The pace of development of Dongyue Road office is very gentle, while Dongfeng farmand Dongyue Daye Road Office and are in a period of adjustment, but the adjustment is toosmall. In the early five years during2001-2011years, part of the township of Daye are in thedevelopment stage, the degree of utilization of land resources is improving in varyingdegree, especially in the degree of utilization of the land. of Bao county which is under arapid development. In the last five years part of the township of Daye are in a period ofadjustment, the extent of use of regional land resources have declined slightly, especiallyDongyue road are in bigger adjustment, but remain at a high level.4.From the aspect of landscape pattern. On the ground level, the feature type of land uselandscape elements of Bao an town, Dongyue Road office and Daye city have no significantchange, while the proportion of arable land of Dongfeng farm decreased, distribution tends to be discrete, the degree of human disturbance slightly weakened: the proportion ofdistribution of waters significantly increased, tending to concentrate, the degree of humandisturbance slightly enhanced. On the landscape level level, variation of landscapeheterogeneity of Dongyue Road and Baoan town is very similar, just slightly different inchanging rate. The changing rate of Dongyue road is greater than that of Baoan town:landscape heterogeneity of Dongfeng farm continued to decline slightly, land use type hasbecome increasingly single: degree of waters plaque slight rise: landscape heterogeneity ofDaye City continued to rise, the landscape of each land use type layout still tend tobalanced: dominance of arable land remains unchanged.5.The author believes that when we study the land use changes, using the technique ofremote sensing and GIS as an information acquisition and processing techniques, combiningthe method of land use transfer matrix and landscape ecology can quickly and moreaccurately analysis on a land use characteristics of the area in qualitative and in quantitative. So that it can provide data to support management and decision-making basis for the relevantgovernment departments. Especially in the case studies in the overall planning a new round ofland use, this method has some scientific and reference.
