Seismic intensity is an important indicator of the strength of the earthquakedamnage and the extent of ground motion. With the development of seismic observationtechniques and an increase in the number of observation instruments. Seismicinstrument intensity which is directly calculated based on seismic records, more andmore attention by researchers. Seismic instrument intensity can be used to quicklyestimate the extent of the impact of earthquake damage, for the earthquake casualtiesand economic loss assessment and emergency repair earthquake emergency resuedecision making and project decision provides the basis. Papers used strong motionrecords and intensity information obtains from domestic eight times destructiveearthquakes as the database. Focuses on the relationships between different seismicintensity and ground motion parameters, the result can provide a reference for theestablishment of the standard instrument intensity. The main work of this articlesummarized as follows:1. Summarizes and analyzes the current development of instrumental intensityhome and abroad. Comparative analysis focused on the calculation method of Japan, theUnited States and China.2. By collecting115strong ground motion records and intensity information from8earthquakes which occurred in China as data resources, the correlation relationshipsbetween24strong ground motion parameters and seismic intensity (Ⅵ toⅩ degrees)were presented by least square method and weighted least squares method. And analysisof the correlation between the24ground motion parameter and intensity.3. Intensity identification verification were carried on regression equations bycollecting336strong ground motion records from10earthquakes which occurred inChina and America such as Wenchuan earthquake, Lushan earthquake, Chi-chiearthquake and Loma Prieta earthquake and so on. And the intensity step discriminantmethod is put forward. The recognition accuracy of intensity step discriminant is55.95%. Assume that1degree difference between the instrumental seismic intensityand seismic intensity is acceptable; the result of this method is acceptable at almost95percent.4. The regression equations between different combinations of parameters andseismic ground motion intensity were established by multivariate weighted regressionanalysis and two-step regression, and joined the magnitude parameters. The regression results are verified, found that the use of multiple ground motion parameter combinationcan not effectively reduce the statistical relationship between the discrete degree.
