High pressure water jet technology is a new technique and well developed in recent20years, it is widely applied by all kinds of profession. The self-sustained pulsed jet as one of thenew jet type, it has been widely used in the field of metal cutting、surface cleaning、mineraldevelopment、fire fighting et al according to the advantage of environment friendly, energy savingand high efficient. The self-sustained oscillation pulsed jet is a new form of jet, it develops withthe theory of hydromechanics and fluid resonance. The advantage of novel self-sustained jet isthat additional incentive source is not necessary, the oscillation pulsed jet will generate when thecontinuous jet flow through the specific structure. In the whole devices, the nozzle is the criticalpart, but the related research is still very incomplete. The mechanism of self-sustained pulsed jetis demonstrared and structure design is conducted to industrial design by theory and numericalsimulation.In the paper, the numerical model of the novel nozzle is ascertained after the latest researchstatus is summarized. The numerical theory is introduced, the control equations are put forwardand basic settings are discussed. Then the pressure characteristics will be shown throughnumerical simulation, the mechanism of self-sustained pulsed jet nozzle is discussed, theeffective feedback condition has been established.The effects of the configuration and the operating parameters to the self-sustained pulsed jetnozzle have been discussed by numerical simulation analysis, the optimal range of structuralparameters and operate parameters are summarized. The structure design theory has been built, itis useful for directing actually industrial design.The cavitation effect of large flux will be involved, the difficulties and solutions ofsimulation analysis study also been introduced, the cavitation model has been a majorbreakthrough. The frenquency characteristic of self-sustained nozzle is deduced based on thehydro-network theory, the major parameters’ influence to the pulsed jet are analysized.At last, the summarization of the dissertation is given and the suggestions of furtherresearch are promoted. Some results of the paper will present useful tool for the designing andoptimization of pulsed jet nozzle.
