The Tibetan Plateau is derived from the collision between the Indian plate and the Asiatic palte, which has been great concerned all over the word. However, there is no a certainly conclusion about the time of collision so far, especially the close time of Tethys. There are a lot of reasons, I accept the continent continent model. And I consider that the demised time of the Tethys can provide an important basis for the collision time of the Indian plate and the Asiatic plate. By the study of the planktonic foraminiferal biostratigraphy, We can limit the close time of Tethys and the time of collision in the study area.In China most Paleogene sedimentary rocks are terrestrial facies. Marine Paleogene stratigraphic just distribute only in Tibet, Xinjiang and Taiwan( Wan, 1987). There are many continuous stratigraphic sequences from Paleocene to Eocene in Southern Tibet, which contain abundant fossils and they are typical in the whole Tethys sea. During the late evolution of The Tethys sea, Yadong is a residual sea with high significances. This thesis is based on the detailed planktonic foraminifer biostaratigraphy research of Gulupu section in Duina, Yadong, Southern Tethyan Himalaya subzone. Abundant foraminifera are gained from this section consisted of continuous Paleocene marine strata, which include 121 species and 25 genus, and 7 planktic foraminifera biozones are recognized in this atircle: Morozovella formosa formosa zone、Morozovella aragonensis zone、Acarinina pentacamerata zone、Morozovella spinulosa-Acarinina bullbrooki zone 、 Globigerina officinalisTurborotalia cerroazulensis cerroazulensis zone 、 Truncorotaloides rohri zone 、Globigerinatheka semiinvoluta zone. The foraminifera retrieved from the Gulupu section indicate that the top Shale Member of Zhepure Formation an Eocene age, which should belong to the middle Priabonian.
