Our nation has lots of low permeability reservoirs, which are widely distributed and have important value of exploitation. However, the development is quite difficult because of low permeability and serious heterogeneity. How to develop the large-scale low permeability reservoirs efficiently has always been a remarkable subject in the field of petroleum development.Wang 55 Block of Shengli Oilfield is a low permeability reservoir, which is difficult to develop due to low permeability, strong heterogeneity and rapid decline in the stratum energy. This paper took this reservior as the object of study, built the geological model and numerical simulation model of the block. Based on including the physical property, analysing the processes of exloitation, researching the geological characteristics and development characteristics of this block, analysed the flowing mechanism of low permeability reservior, built the differential equation which considering the starting pressure gradient and stree sensitivity, solved the problem through numerical approach. Built a 3D geological model for the block to describe the characteristics such as the distribution of oil and water, the micro sedimentary facies, and the distribution of physical parameters. Based on the geological model, a research of a numerical simulation for the block was carried on, built the simulation model, matched with the geological reserves and nearly 20 years of production history of the block which contains of the oil yield, liquid yield and recovery degree. The matching results were evaluated. By virtue of its high precision, this model is utilized to make prediction for designed development adjustment programs, with prediction results as guidance for the development in the block.
