In this paper, the separation of variables method has been used to study electroosmotic flow (EOF) through micro-parallel plates under an external vertical magnetic field, in which the constitutive relation of the linear viscoelastic fluid is described by Jeffrey model. Analytical solutions of the charge density, the linearized Poisson-Boltzmann equation, the constitutive equation of Jeffreys fluid and Cauchy momentum equation are obtained when the driving force is a combination of the electroosmotic force and the Lorentz force. The effects of the dimensionless time τ, the Hartmann number Ha, the ratio Ω of the axial pressure gradient to the electroosmotic velocity, the electrokinetic width K, the dimensionless strength β of the electric field in the z direction, the dimensionless relaxation times γ1, retardation time γ2 on velocity profiles are analysed graphically.
