The major puzzle of Miocene Congo fan in Block A is reservoir, also previous research results has some problems, including the establishment of high-resolution sequence stratigraphy; gravity flow channel genetic types and structure; channel time division and sand body distribution of planar fine description etc. Analysis suggests that the submarine fan genetic cycle(short-term cycles) is presented by sequence of slump, debrite, densite currents, and turbidites, and shows as early erosion and fill of slump and debrite, medium fill and buildup of braided/meandering channels and levee-crevasse splay, and later abandonment of lobe and hemipelagic section whereas allocycles(long-term cycles) may be composed of several genetic cycle(short-term cycles) that, appear as a stacking pattern or retrogradational fan. Scour surfaces at the base of gravity flow channel, stable hemipelagic mudstone section, and the surface between fan retrogradation and progradation can be used for the correlations. Identify six main reservoir deposition, such as Canyon, erosive channel, complex channel, migrate channel, isolate channel, and lobe. Using seismic section geometric features and seismic attributes to describe the different types of gravity flow channel structure characteristics and planar features. The GR analog acoustic impedance inversion clearly reveal the reservoir distribution and characteristics in different gravity flow channel and results that he sand-rich reservoir locates at the upper part of composite and isolate channel, levees and lobes. Genetic cycle division and stratigraphic framework of gravity flow channel have guiding significance for exploration and development of hydrocarbon in submarine fan system. The reservoir types and distribution characteristics of gravity flow channel in deep-water fan are important guiding senses for traps in exploration.
