The seismic dynamic response of a specified slope (i.e. the geotechnical parameters have been specified) is mainly determined by the function mechanism of the earthquake. But by now, the mainly research methods of slope seismic dynamic responses are all focused on the dynamic response (displacement in the slope, velocity, acceleration and dynamic stress) of the slope mass point which caused by earthquake and whether the slope being damaged, and didn’t show much attention on the spread of seismic wave in the slope and the seismic wave energy distribution of the slope. The paper deduced calculation formula of synthetic seismic wave superimposed by point source, and analyzed the wave field caused by SH plane shear wave in the ultrasonic physical model with ray analysis method. Then compared the analysis result with ray method and the result of ultrasonic physical simulation experiments, explained the relation between the rule of the wave energy gathering and dispersing and wave energy distribution, and provided the basis for understanding the relationship between slope seismic dynamic response and seismic wave propagation。The paper got the following understanding and achievements:(1) Both physical model experiment and ray method can correctly simulate the plane wave incident with point source superposition method, which proved the feasibility of using ray method in the study of slope seismic response.(2) Ray method can directly reflect the wave propagation process in the model, reveal the reason of wave energy distribution, and give a reasonable explanation to the slope dynamic response.(3) Ray method can figure out the motion process (response time-histories) of the slope mass point, which has great significance on studying dynamic process of slope seismic response.Limited to the ray method analysis software, the wave field strength distribution calculated by ray method is different from that of the ultrasonic physical model experiment, which is yet to be improved in the future.
