With the development of human genome project, Biology research entered into the post-genome era. Large-scale functional genomics study has become the hot sports. Mouse is a common model organism in mammals. Its gene function and phenotypic study is significant. In this kind of study, it is an efficient way to use PB transposon technology to generate gene mutation strain of mice for screening new gene functions.In this article, it is analyzed that challenges for laboratory information system have been posed by large-scale mouse gene mutation experiments. The importance for building powerful information systems for this kind of genomic research project is addressed. Based on this awareness and analysis, it is found that the existing PBmice system has shortages on three aspects:experiment workflow management in mouse colony, automation of data analysis and information retrieval. Technical solutions and implementations to improve PBmice from those three aspects are discussed in this article. In the aspect of mouse colony management, the process of integrating and refactoring MausDB is presented in detail. In the aspect of automation of data analysis, the automatic insertion mapping data analysis solution is presented. In the aspect of information retrieval, a semantic search solution based on graph database is presented. And implementation technique of this solution design is verified by a Proof-Of-Concept system.
