Satellite telecommunication systems at frequency above 10 GHz suffer from rain attenuation. Rain attenuation time series are simulated. The fade characteristics of simulated rain attenuation time series are analyzed. Researching on rain attenuation has an theory meaning and value for the application in the rain Fade Mitigation Techniques.The Complementary Cumulative Distribution Function(CCDF) at Beijing, Qingdao, Guangzhou, Haikou are calculated by the satellite link rain attenuation predication model at 12.5GHz, 20 GHz and 30 GHz, respectively. The EMB model and event-on-demand model are introduced. Rain attenuation time series are simulated with event-on-demand model. The power spectral density of rain attenuation time series are analyzed and compared with the measured results. The comparison results show that the method is effective. Based on the Dirac-lognormal model, Long-term rain attenuation time series of Beijing, Qingdao, Guangzhou, Haikou at 20 GHz and 30 GHz are simulated, respectively. The power spectral density of simulated rain attenuation time series are calculated and compared with the measured results. The CCDF of simulated rain attenuation time series are analyzed and compared with the ITU-R predicated results. The comparison results show that the feasibility of the method. According to EMB model and Dirac-lognormal model, rain attenuation time series at 12.5GHz are simulated above the four areas. The fade slope of simulated rain attenuation time series are calculated. The simulated statistical results have great difference with the measured results and the simulated results are not in conformity with the distribution law of fade slope. Using the circular insertion method for the correction of simulated data, the corrected results are in good agreement with the measured result.A software of simulated rain attenuation time series and statistics of fade slope is developed. The results show that it improves the computational efficiency of the project and the degree of visualization These research results have an important practical meaning and referenced value for the design of the satellite communication system and the application of the rain Fade Mitigation Techniques above Ku band.
