Francois’ langur (Trachypithecus francoisi) is a rare primate endemic to limestone forest ecosystem. The limestone forest ecosystem is a unique habitat, which can provide complex geographical conditions for its generation. In recent years, deforestation, grazing, highway construction and so on determine the gradual reduction of natural habitat area and the significant decrease of habitat quality, its population declined rapidly. So it is much significant to study the habitat quality of Francois’langur. The aim of this dissertation is to provide scientific data for protection and management through comprehensive analysis about habitat evaluation of Francois’ langur. It can help people to better protect the species. The study areas include Qunxu Long’an, Buye Long’an, Encheng Danxi, Xinxing Jingxi, Yuexu Jingxi, Niande Debao, Dahongbao Longlin, Zhonghua Fusui, Nonggang Longzhou in Guangxi Province. The main results are as followings:1. Based on the previous study,16 main factors, which influence the habitat quality of Francois’ langur, were selected. they included: the forest patch area fragmentation index, the mean patch area, the limestone forest area, the contagion index, plant species diversity, the species evenness, plant species richness, basic area, distance from human disturbance, the development situation, the income level, population density, the education level, energy-consuming structure.2. Single factor was selected to evaluated the suitability of habitat of Francois’ langur, and then to put forward the habitat quality evaluation system of Francois’ langur.3. The habitat quality evaluation system of Francois’ langur was used to evaluate 9 habitats within its distribution. The score of the 9 habitats and the habitat suitability rank were as followings:Long’an Qunxu, scored 38.125, was less suitable habitat; Buye Long’an, scored 28.750, was less suitable habitat; Encheng Danxi, scored 66.250, Xinxing Jingxi, scored 26.875, was less suitable habitat; Yuexu Jingxi, scored 62.500, was suitable habitat. Niande Debao, scored 41.875, was marginal suitable habitat; Dahongbao Longlin, scored 60.625, was suitable habitat; Zhonghua Fusui, scored 58.750, general suitable habitat; Nonggang Longzhou, scored 92.500, was most suitable habitat.4. There is little human effects in those high quality habitat. The arbors’ number, density, height and DBH are relatively large in these habitat. The negative effects of human activities are particularly serious, vegetation are damaged so badly. There are less arbors in these habitat, while shrub and vine take much more proportion.5. Based on the population fluctuation and the evaluation of Francois’ langur’s habitat quality. The population of Francois’ langur is related to its ’habitats’ quality. The carrying capacity of high quality habitat can promote the development of its population. On the contrary, when the habitat quality is too low, the need of Francois’ langur’s survival and reproduction are not met, it will cause decline of the populations of Francois’ langur.
